The manager of our secretarial support will arrange all the details of your visit, but also all the procedures needed if admission for surgery to our Center is required. At our Stavros Tsirigotakis Thyroid Surgery Center you should know that the central person is you, the patient, we are by your side to help you overcome your health problem in the best way. You and your loved ones, the only thing you should be concerned with is yourself. We are dedicated to making this journey of yours, for your health adventure, as enjoyable as possible!
First Visit
The first visit includes your meeting with Thyroid Surgeon Stavros Tsirigotakis, during which a complete history will be taken, the clinical examination, the control of paraclinical tests if they exist (or the planning of new ones if required), the exact diagnosis of the condition, the presentation of treatment options and mutual agreement on the appropriate treatment tailored and personalized for you;
For the complete first diagnosis it is necessary to provide the surgeon with all the required information. For this reason, it is necessary to present the available diagnostic material (examinations or referral from the attending physician) and in general any other material that may be considered useful, as well as the medication that may be followed.

Here are some helpful tips on what to do before, during, and after your discharge from the hospital…
On the day of surgery
There are also a few things you should do when you come for your intake:
-Remind our staff and the surgeon Stavros Tsirigotakis of any allergies you may have.
-Wear loose clothing that is easy to take off and put on when you need to change clothes. Leave jewelry and important personal items at home.
-Bring with you all the necessary information, such as:
- Your insurance book and/or your private insurance contract.
- Valid ID.
- List of your current medication
Before your introduction
Before you’re admitted for your scheduled surgery or other procedure, there are a number of things you can do to make sure everything goes smoothly:
-We will call you to receive the necessary instructions for preparation. Please contact the surgeon if you do not receive this call.
-If there is any change in your general condition, such as a change in skin color or a fever or other symptoms, inform your surgeon as soon as possible.
-Please refrain from eating and drinking liquids – including water, coffee, soft drinks – for at least 8 hours before your admission. If the scheduled operation is in the morning, do not eat or drink anything after midnight.
-Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled admission.
-If you are going to undergo an operation and are expected to be discharged on the same day, arrange in advance for a responsible adult to drive you home after your discharge from the hospital.
After the discharge process
Before you leave, you will receive written instructions for home care, medication if needed, diet, and instructions for your smooth recovery.
You will also receive instructions on what NOT to do:
-Do not drive or operate heavy machinery for 24 hours after discharge.
-Do not drink alcoholic beverages for 24 hours after your discharge.
-Do not make any important decisions the day after your operation.
– Do not eat a heavy or large meal the day after your operation.
Postoperative procedure
It is not unusual to feel pain at the site of your surgery. Pain medication can be taken as directed by your surgeon if required.
Remember:
Call your surgeon or his team immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Chills or fever of 38.5°C or higher
- Severe tenderness at the incision site
- Inability to urinate or incontinence of bowel or bladder
- Breathing difficulty
- Dizziness
- Severe rash all over the body
- Swelling of the face or tongue or extremities
- Chest pain

Use of the insurance fund

It is important to know that the amount to be paid includes the hospital fee, examinations, special materials used in all operations for your safety (neurostimulator, etc.), the fee of the anesthetist, the surgeon and all his associates, as well as the pathologist’s fee for the histological examination and the cost of the entire postoperative course of the patient, as well as the cost of re-examinations and changes in the office if these are necessary.
